DSPA

Dry Sprinkler Powder Aerosol Extinguishing systems, DSPAs for short, are developed to replace the halon-like extinguishing systems that were mainly used in marine applications. Halon is forbidden by the worldwide Montreal Protocol, signed in 1987. In 2001 this Agreement was put into force and since 2003 Halon has been completely forbidden. DSPA extinguishing systems have advanced through years of scientific research.

Introduction

For over 20 years, the AFG Group in Holland, through their subsidiary company DSPA.nl BV, has been developing this aerosol generator technology as a replacement for the now-banned Halon fire extinguishing systems. DSPA works volumetrically, just like Halon.

DSPA.nl is constantly carrying out extensive research in their laboratory, where the products are also tested for quality and ageing. All DSPA systems are manufactured and distributed in accordance with ISO 9001:2000 standards. In addition they have been satisfactorily tested by the following organisations;

DSPA-2

The Dry Sprinkler Powder Aerosol 2 generator is intended for operational application during localisation and extinction of fire of class A, B, C and F, localisation of fire of class A in closed spaces³. They can also be used in rooms where cables, electric installations and electrical equipment in which the voltage is no higher than 40 kV have been installed.

DSPA-4

The Dry Sprinkler Powder Aerosol 4 generators are intended for operational application during localization and extinction of fire of class A and B, localization of fire of class A in closed spaces up to 21m_. They can also be used in rooms where cables, electric installations and electrical equipment in which the voltage is no higher than 40 kV have been installed. DSPA-4 is specifically designed for use within fire extinguishing installations on vehicles in road transportation, in railroad wagons and on ships.

DSPA-5

The Dry Sprinkler Powder Aerosol 5 generator is intended for operational application during localization and extinction of fires of class A and B, and electrical fires, amongst others in industrial buildings, railroad, and vehicle transport.

DSPA-6

The Dry Sprinkler Powder Aerosol 6 generator is intended for operational application during localization and extinction of fire of class A and B, localization of fire of class A in closed spaces up to 300m3. They can also be used in rooms where cables, electric installations and electrical equipment in which the voltage is no higher than 40 kV have been installed.

DSPA-8

The Dry Sprinkler Powder Aerosol 8 generators are intended for operational application during localization and extinction of fire of inflammable liquid (petrol, oil products, organic solvents, etc.) and solid materials (wood, insulation and plastic materials, etc.). They can also be used in rooms where electrical equipment in which the voltage is no higher than 40 kV has been installed.

The Dry Sprinkler Powder Aerosol 11 generator is intended for operational application during localization and extinction of fires of class A and B, and electrical fires, amongst others in industrial buildings, railroad, and vehicle transport. They can also be used in rooms where cables, electric installations and electrical equipment in which the voltage is no higher than 40 kV have been installed.

DSPA-M1

The Dry Sprinkler Powder Aerosol M1 generator is intended for operational application during localization and extinction of fire of class A and B, localization of fire of class A in closed spaces up to 60m3. They can also be used in rooms where cables, electric installations and electrical equipment in which the voltage is no higher than 40 kV have been installed. DSPA-M1 is especially designed for installation on ships.

DSPA-M5

The Dry Sprinkler Powder Aerosol M5 generator is intended for operational application during localization and extinction of fire of class A and B, localization of fire of class A in closed spaces up to 300m3. They can also be used in rooms where cables, electric installations and electrical equipment in which the voltage is no higher than 40 kV have been installed, amongst others in industrial buildings, railroad, vehicle transport and in particular in marine.
